1988 Olympic Gold Medal: Diving, Men’s 10M Platform

This medal is 1 in 1,180. That’s how many Olympic Gold Medals the United States has won since the inception of the Olympic Games. But this medal isn’t just 1 in 1,180… because it was won by the literal G.O.A.T. of Diving, Greg Louganis. The gold medal was presented to Greg in Seoul, Korea for winning the Men’s Diving 10 Meter Platform event. Greg won both the platform and the springboard events in 1988, after hitting his head during the springboard preliminaries, resulting in a concussion. Nearly one week after that, on September 27, 1988, Greg scored an almost perfect 86.70 points on his final dive to win by a narrow margin of 1.14 points.

Greg will hand deliver this to the winning bidder and is happy to share stories over lunch or dinner, as well as take some pictures.
