The trophy is stunning and in excellent condition with light scratching and storage wear to the cup. It’s a eye catching piece for your home or office!
The city of Bolzano, Italy, is known in the world of aquatics for its international diving competitions. This trophy was awarded to four-time Olympic gold medalist diver Greg Louganis at the 23rd International Diving Meeting (“23° Meeting Internazionale Tuffi”) held in Bolzano on July 8-9, 1987. The huge trophy is a metallic gold cup sitting upon a genuine Italian marble base with a placard on one side of the base engraved with the competition information, while a placard on the opposite side of the base is engraved with “Südtiroler Landessparkasse,” the bank in the city of Bolzano that sponsored the competition. According to Greg, the trophy, which weighs 23.8 pounds and stands at 14 inches tall with an 11 1/2-inch diameter, was so large and heavy he had to have it shipped back to the US, as it was too large to travel with.
