Official United States Olympic Flag Pair

Considered the greatest diver in history, Greg Louganis is the only male to win gold medals in both the 3 meter springboard and the 10 meter platform events in consecutive Olympic Games (1984 and 1988). He won his first gold medal at the Summer Games in Los Angeles in the 3 meter springboard event on Aug. 8, 1984, leading the competition by more than 100 points. On Aug. 11, 1984, Greg became the first diver in history to surpass 700 points on the 10 meter platform, scoring 710.91 and winning his second gold medal.

It has become tradition for the US Capitol to fly a flag over the building for each gold medal earned by a member of Team USA in the Olympics. Presented are the two flags flown over the Capitol in recognition of Greg’s gold medals and being a torch bearer at the 1984 Olympics. The 3-by-5-foot flags were presented to him after they were taken down. They show light wear consistent with having been exposed to the elements.
